Los efectos de las prácticas nutricionales en atletas de alto rendimiento y sus impactos en la longevidade

Resumen

Los atletas de alto rendimiento utilizan diversas estrategias nutricionales con el objetivo de maximizar el rendimiento deportivo, muchas veces mediante manipulaciones agresivas de macronutrientes, deshidratación y reducciones rápidas de peso. Aunque estos enfoques pueden favorecer resultados inmediatos en competiciones, evidencias científicas indican que su uso crónico puede comprometer la salud metabólica, renal, hormonal e intestinal, afectando negativamente la longevidad. La relación entre nutrición, microbiota, ciclo circadiano y la respuesta fisiológica del atleta es compleja e interdependiente, lo que refuerza la necesidad de estrategias personalizadas. Así, el objetivo de este estudio fue discutir las prácticas nutricionales utilizadas en la preparación de atletas de alto rendimiento, así como sus impactos en la longevidad. Se trata de una revisión de la literatura que recopiló e interpretó evidencias científicas nacionales e internacionales publicadas entre 2007 y 2025, de las bases de datos SciELO, PubMed, MDPI, Google Académico, The Psychological Society y European Journal of Sport Science. Se observó que, mientras protocolos como el ayuno estratégico, los ciclos de macronutrientes, la crononutrición y la dieta mediterránea demostraron beneficios duraderos, los métodos extremos de pérdida de peso y el desequilibrio alimentario expusieron al organismo a disfunciones inflamatorias y metabólicas. Se concluye, por tanto, que el equilibrio entre rendimiento y longevidad depende de una planificación nutricional individualizada, adaptada a la fisiología y a las demandas competitivas de cada atleta.
